Culture and Creativity
Supporting a vibrant Liverpool City Region that's a great place to live, work and visit and where creative talent can flourish.
Liverpool City Region is a thriving place for culture and creativity and we wanted to celebrate this, so the Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards were born!
Established in 2019 as part of the Metro Mayor’s commitment to culture, they recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation in art, technology, innovation and creativity within Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral.
Our Finalists in the 2025 LCR Culture & Creativity Awards have now been revealed!

Sound! is the new Music Hub for Knowsley, Halton, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Warrington. It’s made up of a group of organisations that work together to provide music education for children and young people.
We’re currently seeking applications from young people aged between 10 and 21 who want to connect with other young music enthusiasts to join our Sound! Music Hub Youth Board to help shape the future of music in the local area.
We were delighted to welcome BBC Question of Sport captain and Olympic Gold Medallist Sam Quek MBE to the stage to host the 2024 Liverpool City Region Culture & Creativity Awards at St Helens Rugby League Stadium.
Hundreds of artists, creatives, volunteer and community groups entered the 15 categories which included Inspirational Young Person and awards for Environmental work and Community Cohesion.
The awards are part of the Metro Mayor’s 1% for Culture initiative, and honour the value and contribution that culture, creativity, technology, innovation, and science brings to the Liverpool City Region.
To celebrate and support our fantastic cultural assets and the benefits they bring to the people in our communities, Liverpool City Region is the first in the country to commit to spending the equivalent of 1% of its annual £30 million devolution funding from government to support cultural activities.
We also offer significant support for the fantastic work taking place in the city region.
One percent for culture is also behind our cultural events programme which most recently saw giant animated artworks made entirely of sustainable bamboo take centre stage.
Local artists worked with communities across the city region to design and build six life-sized structures as part of a public art exhibition displayed in all the region’s boroughs.
The Imagine Bamboo installation aimed to raise awareness of the environmental benefits of using bamboo as a sustainable building material.
