Earlier in the year, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority successfully recruited three teams to deliver the initial first stage of housing first across Liverpool City Region. We are now hoping to build on this success and expand the initial pilot with a further two delivery teams.
We are looking for exceptional individuals who have the passion to deliver on our vision of supporting people out of Homelessness by further developing a Housing First service across the city region.
Central government has allocated £7.7 million to the Liverpool City Region to help tackle homelessness. The Housing First pilot will be delivered in conjunction with existing programmes throughout the city region and will help complement steps already being taken by councils and their partners. It will allow the testing of the Housing First models at a scale that could make a significant difference in providing support to homelessness people.
Housing First is an internationally evidence-based approach, which uses independent, stable housing as a platform to enable individuals to begin recovery and move away from homelessness.
Through the provision of intensive, flexible and person-centered support, people are supported to maintain their home. Unlike other supported housing models, individuals do not need to provide they are ready for independent housing, or progress through a series of accommodation and treatment services. There are no conditions placed on them, other than a willingness to maintain a tenancy agreement, and Housing First is designed to provide long-term, open-ended support for their on-going needs.
We are now looking for outstanding people to form the expansion of the Housing First support teams in the Liverpool City Region to deliver this vital piece of work.
We want people who are passionate and committed to ending homelessness across the Liverpool City Region. The success of this ambitious programme of delivery and system change will rely on us building a team of knowledgeable, skilled and driven people to deliver this work. The Homelessness Strategy Team is committed to ensuring that people with lived experience are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that people who have overcome difficulties in their lives may have gaps in their employment history, periods of homelessness and involvement with the criminal justice system. We will adopt a understanding approach to the circumstances of applicant’s past lives in order to ensure that a troubled past does not become an unnecessary barrier to employment within Housing First services.
All posts will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
There will be an information evening on 9 December 2019 for interested candidates. If you wish to find out more information on the above roles please join us from 5.00pm to 7.00pm on a drop in basis at our offices at No 1 Mann Island, Liverpool L3 1BP.
The roles will initially be for 12 months on a fixed term contract. We however envisage that the successful candidates will champion the development of the model into the longer term commissions and there is the possibility that staff could be part of a planned transition to commissioned providers.
