The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is proud to announce its new partnership with Women in Transport, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive leadership and greater representation across the transport sector.

This collaboration reflects the Combined Authority’s ongoing efforts to create a transport network that works for everyone—one that is accessible, equitable, and shaped by diverse voices.
By joining Women in Transport, the CA is strengthening its dedication to empowering women, amplifying lived experiences, and ensuring representation at every level of decision-making.
The partnership supports initiatives that promote career progression for women in the transport sector, including leadership development programmes, mentoring, and networking opportunities. These efforts aim to build confidence, foster connections, and position transport as a truly inclusive and empowering industry for women at all stages of their careers.
Furthermore, through initiatives such as the Equality, Diversity and Intersectionality Panels, the Combined Authority is already working to tackle systemic barriers and improve outcomes for underrepresented groups.
Katherine Fairclough, Chief Executive of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, said:
“We’re delighted to be joining Women in Transport – a powerful step in our ongoing commitment to inclusive leadership and greater representation across the transport sector.
“Women in Transport is doing incredible work to empower, connect, and elevate women across the industry and the Combined Authority is proud to be part of that journey toward a more inclusive future.
“This collaboration is about creating further opportunities for women to thrive, lead, and shape the future of transport. Together, we’re building a more equitable and visible space for women’s voices, ideas, and ambitions.”
Sonya Byers, CEO at Women in Transport, commented on the new partnership:
“We are thrilled to welcome the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as a new partner as the region continues to demonstrate bold leadership and investment in creating a truly inclusive and accessible transport network.
“Their commitment to embedding equity through initiatives like the Equality, Diversity, and Intersectionality Panels aligns strongly with our mission to amplify women’s voices and experiences across the transport sector.
“Together, we look forward to shaping a future where transport is inclusive for everyone.”
