St Helens homeowner, Karen, is delighted with the work which has been completed on her home.

“There’s only my money coming in, so I’ve got to watch what I spend. This is going to be a big benefit for me. When they’d actually put the insulation on, we had a cold spell in March. I turned the heating off just to see and it did work, it was warmer in here.

“When we had that really hot spell the other week and I worked from home, while in the past couple of years when we’ve had the hot weather I’ve had to go and sit outside, now it is much cooler. I would highly recommend having this, the external cladding and everything done. It’s a big improvement to the house, but it’s also a big improvement to my lifestyle.”

Around 1,200 properties have benefited from the scheme so far, which includes a range of energy efficient improvements, such as the installation of external wall insulation and the latest ventilation systems to combat damp and condensation.

A team from LCRCA and Next Energy visited Karen to find out what she thought of the work.

During the visit, LCRCA project manager, Siobhan Thomas, said:

“Karen’s house doesn’t only look really good on the outside because of this work, but it will now also retain the heat within the property. It’ll make the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter months meaning less money on energy bills. It’s great to see what improvements we are making and speak to residents like Karen, who are so pleased to get the work done and who will benefit from the improvements for years to come.”
