We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced Senior Democratic Services Officer to join the Democratic Services team, where you will support the governance arrangements for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Merseytravel.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication, written and oral skills and have a thorough knowledge and experience of the law relating to local authority committee meetings. You will have a minimum of 5 years’ committee administration experience, which will include servicing Committees and other formal meetings, preparing and producing formal meeting agendas, working to deadlines, using Modern.gov and webcasting technologies. You will have experience and/or knowledge of the scrutiny function in local government and have a high degree of political awareness and sensitivity. Understanding of the law and procedures of local government meetings and experience of applying that knowledge through the provision of appropriate advice and guidance to members and officers is essential.
You should be proactive, confident, tactful and diplomatic, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to take minutes with precision and clarity, the ability to work under your own motivation and initiative and as part of a team, time management skills, ability to prepare documents with attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines. You must also have good organisational skills and ability to supervise the team.
You must have a good all round standard of education including English Language GCSE (or equivalent). You must also have or be undertaking relevant ADSO qualification or NVQ Level 4 Business Administration or equivalent or commitment to undertake the same.
