Job Description:

Central government has allocated £7.7 million to the Liverpool City Region to help tackle homelessness. The Housing First pilot will be delivered in conjunction with existing programmes throughout the city region and will help complement steps already being taken by councils and their partners. It will allow the testing of the Housing First models at a scale that could make a significant difference in providing support to homelessness people.

Housing First is an internationally evidence-based approach, which uses independent, stable housing as a platform to enable individuals to begin recovery and move away from homelessness.

Through the provision of intensive, flexible and person-centred support, people are supported to maintain and flourish in their home. Unlike other supported housing models, individuals do not need to provide they are ready for independent housing, or progress through a series of accommodation and treatment services. There are no conditions placed on them, other than a willingness to maintain a tenancy agreement, and Housing First is designed to provide long-term, open-ended support for their on-going needs.

We are now looking for outstanding people to join our Housing First support teams in the Liverpool City Region to deliver this vital piece of work.

We want people who are passionate and committed to ending homelessness across the Liverpool City Region. These new positions are central to the scaling up of the project and the new positions join an existing team who have been delivered Housing First on a smaller scale in a test and learn phase.

The service is to deliver Housing First to service users across the Liverpool City Region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral). Successful applicants will be based in one area and will provide intensive and flexible support to their service users to obtain housing and then maintain and flourish in their tenancy. One key principle of Housing First is choice and control for the service user, so intensive support will look very different day to day, depending on what the service user would like to do. Support workers need to be flexible, and adaptive, as well as needing to travel across their area to support their service users.

The success of this ambitious programme of delivery and system change will rely on us building a team of knowledgeable, skilled and driven people to deliver this work. The Homelessness Strategy Team is committed to ensuring that people with lived experience are at the heart of everything we do.
We recognise that people who have overcome difficulties in their lives may have gaps in their employment history, periods of homelessness and involvement with the criminal justice system. We will adopt an understanding approach to the circumstances of applicant’s past lives in order to ensure that a troubled past does not become an unnecessary barrier to employment within Housing First services.

All posts will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Due to Covid19, interviews will be held online. (If you are selected for an interview and do not have internet access please inform us asap)

Interviews are due to take place between 20th July to 31st July.
