Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram today received his second Covid-19 vaccination – and urged others to do the same.
Speaking following his second jab at the NHS vaccination bus at Anfield Sports Centre, the Mayor urged everyone to get vaccinated once offered an appointment to protect themselves and others.
Steve Rotheram said:
“The Liverpool City Region has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, but we’ve done everything in our power to reduce the worst effects on our communities and the economy.
“Getting vaccinated is the best way to ensure that you and your loved ones are protected and will help us get back to normal. I’d urge everyone in our city region to make their appointment when offered.”
Liverpool GP Dr Cheryl Lowes said:
“The Liverpool COVID-19 vaccine bus is enabling the NHS to offer vaccinations in the heart of those communities where we need to increase uptake.
“Everybody in the city should have good access to two vaccinations and we will continue to use the bus, alongside other opportunities such as pop-up clinics, to ensure we are protected and can look forward to opening up our city again.”
Managing Director of Arriva Merseyside, who are providing the branded bus and driver free of charge to the NHS, Howard Farrall said:
Covid vaccinations are currently being offered to people aged over 30.
The bus, which offers a walk-in service between 10am-5pm, will be at Anfield Sports Centre tomorrow before heading to Page Moss on June 7 and 8 and moving to Tiber Street Football Centre in Liverpool on Friday June 11. Further dates and venues will be announced soon.
