Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram has appealed to people to stay at home this Easter weekend to help stop the spread of the virus and bring the crisis to a swifter end.

Speaking in a video message ahead of what would normally be a key holiday weekend of family gatherings and outdoor leisure activities, Mayor Rotheram has appealed to people to not let ‘corona complacency,’ set in and please stay home and only make absolutely essential journeys.

Steve Rotheram said:

“The Coronavirus poses a challenge unlike anything ever seen in modern Britain. You’ve heard the message many times to stay home, stay safe, save lives

“But it’s probably more important than ever – to reinforce that ‘life saving’ message – as we enjoy the Bank Holiday.

“It’s the only occasion I can remember when everyone’s answer to the question, ‘where did you go over the Easter break?’, should be exactly the same: ‘I stayed home – and saved lives.’

“I’ve been really impressed with most people’s behaviour so far- in following Public Health England advice

“The Weather might be changing – but our discipline has to remain the same. Don’t let ‘Corona Complacency’ set in.

“This virus doesn’t discriminate – the Prime Minister’s fight for health proves that

“Our NHS and frontline workers are doing their bit – you have to do yours

“Stay home, stay safe, save lives.”
