Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester Metro Mayors back devolution for Cheshire
Responding to the publication of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership’s report ‘Working Together; Devolution in the Northern Powerhouse’, Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region and Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said:
“Today’s report from the Northern Powerhouse Partnership demonstrates the success that the North is already making of devolution and supports the case for further, deeper devolution across our region.
“The spread of devolution around us will help us all to shape our futures and strengthen the Northern voice on the national stage. That’s why we support Jim O’Neill’s call for a devolution deal that is right for our colleagues in Cheshire. If Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Liverpool City Region are all pulling in the same direction we will be a force to be reckoned with.
“As a country we must work to rebalance wealth and influence across the country from South to North. That is the only way that this government can deliver the Northern Powerhouse that we were promised.”
