Made in Bootle
Bootle community jams and pickles business defies pandemic
Made in Bootle and The Gateway Collective plan for exciting future thanks to Liverpool City Region funding
Waste not want not is the motto of a belting Bootle business that’s set to grow and grow.
Made in Bootle is an idea borne out of the Gateway Collective – a group of community gardeners based in North Park, Bootle.
Once the gardeners have their pick of the produce they grow, the rest is made into jams, pickles and chutneys and sold to the public.
Liverpool City Region funding meant production – and sales – carried on despite the pandemic, and there are ambitious plans for the future.
Ali Horton, co-founder of the Gateway Collective said: ‘’We did some partnership work through the Bootle Festival of Ideas and thought it would be great to have a pop-up shop, or pop-up business, called Made In Bootle.
‘’It’s all about selling produce made in Bootle, either by social enterprises or independents. We want a wide range for the future.
‘Collectively, we are stronger than an individual.’’
