The funding is part of a wider investment by the Combined Authority to support employment and redevelopment.
The fund has supported nearly 200 projects across all six of Liverpool City Region’s local authorities.
The festival has expanded for 2022, doubling the number of activities.
If agreed, some passengers would see a saving of up to 13% in the cost of a single journey.
The money will be used to create safe, segregated bike paths and footways and improve junctions.
The nine-mile route offers a huge number of opportunities to see the players.
